"Under the Lemon Tree" 32x36 Mixed Media Painting on Raw Canvas
“Under the Lemon Tree” captures the feeling of lying in the grass on a warm summer afternoon, looking up through tangled branches and leaves as patches of blue sky flicker between them. I recently found myself experiencing this in my own backyard. It was beautiful. The light danced, the air felt warm against my skin, and nothing was required of me except being present. Now of course, it wasn't a lemon tree I was under but a girl can dream.
Bright lemons and winding branches intertwine across the raw canvas in layered movement and expressive color, adding a playful vibrancy to the piece. There is a looseness within the painting that feels both nostalgic and alive, rooted in the kind of simple joy we often forget to make space for. It reflects the beauty of ordinary moments, sunlight through leaves, fresh air, the quiet wonder of noticing the world around you.
Created as a reminder to return to simple things, and to ask yourself: when was the last time you laid in the grass and looked up at the sky?
